A visit with an Old Friend….Leon, still NOT FORGOTTEN!

I decided last week, that on Saturday before Memorial Day I would pay a visit to an old friend.  I am talking about Leon Spearman the “unclaimed veteran” I wrote about last year.  I have been back to visit his grave once since his burial last year when the NC Patriot Guard Riders became his family and escorted his body and “stood” for him at his funeral.  Continue reading

Last week my coffeemaker died.  My mission that day was to find it’s new replacement.  Of course the first thing I did when I got home was set up my new “friend” and put it work!  It was wonderful to have my fresh, hot cup of coffee in my hand.  I decided to check in on Facebook and see what was happening in my extended world.  One of the first things that popped up was the death of Whitney Houston.   Continue reading

The coffee maker dies, and I won the lottery on the same day!

Saturday February 11th did not start out well for me.  I got out of bed and stumbled to the kitchen.  Until I have that first cup of “Joe” I don’t function properly.  I can’t walk straight, don’t hear well, my eye’s don’t focus properly.   I thought I had the coffee maker programmed to have my “cup of life support” ready for me.  I fiddled with the coffee maker and waited, and waited and waited.  Nothing was happening, other than some gurgling and hissing.  My coffeemaker had died.  My thought was this really cannot be happening, but it was!  My caffeine came in the from of iced tea that morning….just not the same as a fresh hot cup of coffee.   Continue reading
